"I've been working at the Firm for two years now and it's a great job with great benefits. But today my boss asked me to do something I don't feel good about. He wants me to report (on our balance sheet) an asset that really isn't an asset. The purpose is to get a loan we otherwise might not be qualified for. He says I shouldn't worry--if anybody questions or catches it, he will take the blame. You know, I really need this job; I have a mortgage payment and a family to feed. What should I do?"
