I categorise projects as follows:
Proofreading - A check on spelling, punctuation and grammar. This is recommended before publishing so your work looks professional and it only costs on average around $1.00AUD a page.
Minor Edit - In this case the document is pretty well completed but some rewriting is needed to eliminate clumsy phrasing and improve the flow of information. Proofreading is included. Average cost is around $2.00AUD a page.
Major Edit - This is needed when the project has been roughly written and there are major problems with the flow of information. It's more difficult to estimate costs without actually seeing a sample, and a major factor is the size of the document, but an average figure is $3.00AUD a page.
